► (1886-1925) Médico alemán. Es el creador de la reacción que lleva su nombre, esencial para el diagnóstico de la sífilis.

(21 feb. 1866, Bamberg, Baviera–16 mar. 1925, Berlín, Alemania).

Bacteriólogo alemán. En 1906 desarrolló, con Albert Neisser (n. 1855–m. 1916), una prueba para detectar el anticuerpo contra la espiroqueta que causa la sífilis. Este examen, junto con otros procedimientos, aún se emplea para diagnosticar la sífilis. También se destacó por desarrollar pruebas para la tuberculosis. Escribió, con Wilhelm Kolle, Un tratado de microorganismos patógenos (6 vol., 1903–09).
